Hogan Thompson Expands Commercial Litigation Team in Texas
James Schuelke and Allie Hale to Focus on Construction and Energy Litigation Practice for Houston-based Trial Boutique
HOUSTON (July 7, 2021) – Hogan Thompson LLP, an energy-focused litigation boutique in Houston, announced the addition of James Schuelke and Allie Hale to its team of trial lawyers. Schuelke joins Hogan Thompson as a partner, while Hale joins the firm as an associate.
Schuelke brings extensive trial experience in construction, midstream and petrochemical disputes to Hogan Thompson. He is known for his ability to handle every stage of a case, from pre-suit negotiations through jury verdicts and final appeals. Both as lead counsel and in key roles on multi-member trial teams, he has represented clients across a broad range of industries in complex litigation and arbitration matters. An honors graduate of Harvard Law School and The University of Texas at Austin, Schuelke served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edith Brown Clement of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit before starting his career as a trial lawyer. Before joining Hogan Thompson, he was a partner at Reynolds Frizzell LLP.
Hale has represented clients across the country in state and federal courts, as well as in mediations and arbitrations. Her work focuses on complex business litigation and spans a variety of legal issues, including tort liability, intellectual property matters and complex contract issues. Hale received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she received the Virginia Trial Lawyers Trial Advocacy Award and the National Association of Women Lawyers Award. She previously worked in risk management for JE Dunn Construction, handling insurance, legal and compliance issues.
“We are excited James and Allie are joining Hogan Thompson to further bolster our litigation practice and build on our efforts to become one of the country’s go-to firms for energy litigation,” said founding partner Christopher Hogan. “Our energy clients often find themselves with construction disputes related to pipelines, refineries and other energy infrastructure. The addition of James and Allie—with their considerable construction experience—will allow us to better serve those clients going forward.”
Founded by partners Christopher Hogan and Samantha Thompson in 2020, Hogan Thompson exclusively handles commercial litigation, with a focus on representing energy companies in commercial disputes. The firm’s energy clients include major companies Chevron, EOG, Marathon Oil, BP, Ovintiv, Callon Petroleum, Escondido Resources and Legacy Reserves. The firm also represents real estate companies such as the Moody National Companies and MetroNational.
Currently, Hogan Thompson has matters pending in state and federal court, along with arbitration proceedings. The firm is representing clients in several prominent oil and gas disputes, including multiple lease-termination cases in the Permian Basin, more than a half-dozen royalty disputes in the Eagle Ford Shale and numerous disputes related to Delaware Basin assets in Texas and New Mexico.
